projects

Holly’s been bit by the knitting bug. She talked it up so well that I almost dug out my needles. But then reality hit me and I remembered all the half-finished projects I have tucked away here and there and everywhere that I promised I’d get back to as soon as Harry was no longer a newborn. Well, he’s ten months old now. I still feel like my head is whirling. I guess this must be what life is like. Anyway, Holly asked what keeps other folks busy. So, here are some projects that are taking up my time – when I’m not cooking, cleaning, folding laundry, making tents out of sheets and compulsively rearranging the furniture.

I am in the middle of making this slipcover for this chair. I’m having a hard time with one of the arms. Can you tell?

This young woman has inspired me to pick up my guitar again. All I can say is that it feels good. I’m working on my sticktoitiveness.

That bear has been with my three-year-old since he was a baby. It is getting rather flat and the nose has a thread hanging from it which my funny boy uses to tickle me. I am going to open Bear up and add some fabric scraps to fill him out and embroider his nose back on. I told Jack he could have him back tomorrow. He is sleeping with an alternate tonight.

Lastly, I am determined to finish these larger-sized all-in-one cloth diapers. Harry was in cloth until my washer broke when he was a few months old. I meant to get back to using cloth but then he just seemed to grow so fast that I couldn’t finish making the diapers before he was ready for them. And THEN solid food poops just gross me out. But Holly and Didi and others have inspired me to at least finish making these. What will happen to them once they’re done is still unclear.

    you folks are so nice.

Beth, I know, right? Pretty soon I’ll be making cute bday cakes and veggie paint stamps and going on all kinds of cool outings! You really do motivate me!! I often think of you when I plan a special thing with the kids. I often remember you writing that sometimes the mess is worth it. I don’t even remember what that was in reference to (maybe play-doh?) but it has stuck with me.
