red & brown granny square mini-blanket

Several years ago, my grandmother moved two thousand miles away from the home she’d lived in for all of my life.  To make her move easier, she gave me, among other things, most of her crochet supplies.  These little red granny squares were just waiting to be made into something.

Thanks to my friend Jeannette, who does not have a blog (yet), for pointing me to this tutorial for a pretty way to join the squares.  It’s now a smallish sort of lap blanket that my kids are trying to commandeer.

I can see that! The colors or maybe picturing a campfire with a lap blanket….I can see that! Hmmm….did I tell you that I want to take the leap and start camping again? With the kids? Yes, I might be certifiable.

I think I said it already but I imagine the satisfaction you are getting from getting your One Days behind you. And having a new edition to show for it 😉

I am sooo afraid to take on the project (and I can’t imagine what for since we have so many here) but granny squares are so neat! I can’t wait to try this out.

I can’t imagine spoiling the peace of the forest with my screaming children. And if I thought it was bad taking myself to potty in the middle of the night while camping, I can’t imagine how exasperating it would be with littles. I should have done it before they were out of diapers.

But I bet your kids will love it. 🙂
